The Arts Centre Hastings Building was built in 2008. It was built in partnership with the town of Madoc and Sir Sanford Fleming College by the Sustainable Building Design and Construction class. It’s a sustainable straw bale building (and no the three little pigs can’t blow it down). It was built for live performances, especially music, which makes it a perfect choice for these shows. Below are some picture of the building in all its eco glory.
It looks even better live, so come out and see some great music!

Great set up! I’m a little far in Ottawa but will stop by if we’re driving through on #7.
We’re also working on a sustainable straw bail Japanese Tea room. I’m open to what you’ve learned that would save time and energy.
Cheers,
Matt
Really like your web site. It would help if I knew where the concerts were. How about a map for “Where is the Art Centre Hastings in Madoc?
Hope to see you tomorrow.
Well done.
Really hoping to get tickets to see The Heartbroken, but need directions to the Arts Centre Hastings building, we are coming down Hwy 62 from Bancroft? Hope to hear soon, thanks Emma!
Hi Emma,
I have grown up in Madoc and still reside here. I absolutely love Madoc!
I am currently finishing my degree at Queen’s for teaching and am taking a trip to Sierra Leone this March for my alternate practicum. I came across this blog and was uttlerly enthused. I will be teaching peace education in Sierra Leone, but with a focus on music. (I sing and play the acoustic guitar) I will be connected with students at CHSS and students in Sierra Leone in how music contributes to messages of peace in their lives. I was wondering if we could connect at all? I will be posting to an online blog while I am there. http://getic.pbworks.com/w/page/30158218/Sara-Hailstone's-Alternate-Practicum-Proposal. I would love to feature your blog to my students while I am there and share some uploaded videos. I look forward to hearing from you!
The point of this project is to show that connections can be made between rural cultures through music!
Sincerly,
Sara Hailstone
